Lewis Chess Set (British Museum, London) Found Uig, Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides, Scotland

The Famous Lewis Chess Set (British Museum, London):

The Lewis Chess Set was found on the Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides, Scotland. The pieces were found in the vicinity of Uig, most likely in sand dunes, some time before 11 April 1831. The chess pieces are made from worked walrus ivory & whales' teeth. The set was probably carved in Norway ~ AD 1150-1200.
